What Is Health?

According to the world’s 8th edition medical dictionary health is the state of total well being of an individual involving physical, psychological and social aspects of a person’s life. It makes it possible for individuals to adjust to their circumstances and also manage pressure.

Physical

Physical health is the ability of the physiological structure to perform its functions without deviations. It is one of the dimensions in an individual’s wellness and it is affected by several aspects like intake of food, sleeping habits, physical exercise, and stress activities, among others.

Discomfort or loss of the body’s operational abilities is known as health and illness. Next it involves a person’s evaluation of themselves in connection to their health status both qualitative and quantitative.

The most serious problem is the maintenance of physical health. It consists of a number of components: healthy nutrition, exercise, good sleep, and physical rehabilitation. Failure to accept the existence of these characteristics will only aggravate the problem and make sure that it would be resolved more aggressively.

Mental

This includes reducing inequities in socioeconomic status, education, housing, neighborhood and physical environment, employment and social support networks, and access to health care services.

Spiritual

Spiritual health is when a person finds wholesome beliefs that convey purpose in their lives and comprehend that there is reality outside themselves. It also has links with the aspects of good mental health, good social status and good physical health.

Apart from furnishing people with a sense of direction, spirituality can help individuals cope with adversity and grief in a better way. The current study aims to determine the relationship between an individual’s spirituality and their hopes and happiness. The link between spirituality and self-image has also been the subject of study, as has the connection between spiritual belief and emotional control. These links are being scrutinized through conventional content analysis and an in-depth interview with 22 purposively sampled experts in the field of spiritual health.

Mood

Mood management encompasses awareness of feelings and emotions, quite a fair amount of vulnerability and being one’s true self. It also embraces the proclivity to relate well with others as well as the ability to articulate oneself appropriately. It translates to better life satisfaction, more output and general happiness.

Those with good emotional health perceive and even acknowledge their feelings instead of suppressing them. For instance, Sam who perceives himself to be emotionally healthy may experience resentment due to his boyfriend quitting their relationship. Instead of being bitter about the situation, which invokes negative thoughts in him, Sam spares a few moments to reflect and regain his composure.

Emotional health is directly related to mental health and grounds people to develop a mental disorder. People suffering from mental disorders can also use it as a means for coping or managing the disorder as it assists individuals in stress management and developing good coping skills. This as well can be an important part of enhancing a person’s general life satisfaction in relation to self acceptance, self expansion and self actualization. In addition, emotional wellness has been linked with physical wellness as it allows someone to control stress and can increase one’s resilience.
